Zongru (Doris) Shao is a postdoctoral researcher at HZDR – Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf/CASUS - Center for Advanced Systems Understanding. Her expertise is in artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, text mining, and computer vision. She is a recipient of several awards, including the New Jersey Technology Council's Innovators to Watch – Rising Stars in STEEM. She holds patents licensed to Accentuate for commercial usage. She is on the editorial board of the International Journal of Natural Language Computing. Her research was covered by the media press several times. She has mentored high school students and undergraduates for academic research. She received a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology, United States; M.Eng. in Communication and Information System and B.Eng. in Telecommunications Engineering from Xidian University, China.

I use Python for work and research (over 10 years). I am familiar with SQL and non-SQL databases. I have experience with C++ for years. I used Java for my undergraduate thesis project. I used R and other programming languages (e.g., MATLAB, VHDL) for some courses and small learning projects. I am on the path to learn Julia and something new.
Research
My current and past research focuses on machine learning, time series forecasting, natural language processing, text mining, deep learning with audio classification (emotion, spoofing, etc.), and image & video analytics.
I love to learn new technologies. I try to follow the most recent development of artificial intelligence. I would like to learning about other fields and arts. I follow TED.
